Shopping on the Internet with discounts
Even if Austria is still quite hesitant when it comes to Internet shopping in international comparison, the volume of purchase contracts concluded via Net is increasing year by year.
If it was mainly simple goods such as CDs or books (Amazon) or purchases via auction portals (eBay), interesting shopping opportunities have now arisen in almost all sectors via Net. With more or less strong use by the customers…..
Internet shopping often cheaper, comparison easily possible
While you can still buy groceries & co. at a much lower price in the supermarket (the shipping costs are often still quite high), the possibility of comparing prices via the net has already provided considerable price transparency in many areas.
In Austria, geizhals at was a pioneer – especially electrical appliances can be compared wonderfully with Geizhals.
But also travel and hotel portals, car portals, clothing stores and much more shot out of the ground like mushrooms after the rain.
Much has also happened in the financial sector – banking products and insurance as well as gas prices, electricity prices & Co. are now quite quickly and often very qualitatively comparable – the money market also contributes a lot to this with many comparisons.
With few Klicks one can find now (often after a fundamental search via Google) innumerable offerers – who take the first best offer, is often to blame…
Coupons and actions in demand
For a long time, there have also been portals on the network offering vouchers for services and goods. Again and again new campaigns offer interesting terrain for bargain hunters in all areas.
In Austria, the voucher portals also became very popular due to the massive appearance of the US company Groupon, which closed the store in Austria again in 2016.
But domestic vendors also offer vouchers of all kinds – you can find a small list under the link tips.
Discounts and cashback on everyone’s lips
In recent years, the Lyoness Cashback Card has very often been included in the series of plastic cards.
When shopping on the Internet, there is not only often one or the other percent of the purchase price back – there is also a small discount when buying vouchers or cash in many stores. Find out more here: Lyon
Very interesting for the upcoming purchase is also the portal action finder (see link tip) – here current folders of important companies (Billa, Spar, Zielpunkt, Hofer, Baumax, Kika etc.) are presented and also current actions presented. But then the goods are bought in the shop.
Since 2018, another large company has also been strongly represented with discount points in the online and offline sector: Payback Austria offers e.g. points (= credits) for purchases at DM, Fressnapf, Burger King, Nordsee, BP, Ebay, Otto, Universal, Austrian Airlines or oeticket – some regular customers of these shops then already get a credit…..
Cash at Cashup.at for online purchases
And last -but not least- the newest baby from Austria in terms of “cheaper shopping on the internet”: cashUp.at.
Via this portal, you can purchase several hundred online shops and thus collect commissions for your own purchases.
First, you register via the shopping portal, then shop in the online shop of your choice and receive cashback from cashup.at for your purchases.
How can this work? Quite simple: Cash up.at receives commissions for the purchases it makes, which can then (partly) be refunded to its users. A good idea, which has good chances for the future.
Also always interesting (often also for gifts) and with many actions: DailyDeal vouchers (see link tips).
Do not turn off your brain when shopping on the Internet…..
Another warning when shopping on the Internet: In the case of contracts with companies or private individuals who are not resident in Austria, your own private legal protection (“contract legal protection”) often does not apply. If you frequently shop abroad, you should have the coverage of your possibly existing legal expenses insurance checked or extended.
And 2 other important tips: Buy only from companies you know – or research these companies in detail in advance on the Internet. And when shopping on the Internet, pay attention to the shipping costs – some parcels cost more than if you had bought the goods directly in the shop.
The big shopping world at home on screen – don’t switch off your brain when shopping on the Internet.
